KRISTEN KENNEY FounderKristen Kenney, a broadcast journalist contracted a severe bout of malaria in Tanzania in 2009 while filming a feature documentary, and was lucky to survive. After learning malaria kills thousands of children every day, she made it her mission to fight back, one bracelet at a time. As the acting executive director of MALAIKA FOR LIFE, Kristen does not take a salary. She holds a key leadership role in the organization; oversees all operations for MALAIKA FOR LIFE and is committed to sharing her story to empower everyday people to make a difference in the fight to #endmalaria.

ALICE HIATT President of Hope Through Opportunity MALAIKA FOR LIFE operates under California 501c3 Hope Through Opportunity, founded by Alice Hiatt in 2008 to bring hope and opportunity to the people of the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania.

ANNA WASCHER COO/Co-FounderAnna Wascher is an original member of the MALAIKA team and best friend of Kristen's. Anna joined the team in 2009 as COO to focus on growth strategy, micro-financing and women's self-sufficiency and sustainable business opportunities in Africa. On a return trip to Tanzania in 2010, Anna helped deliver $10,000 of malaria medicines and developed key operations on the ground for our bracelet production program. She created our partnership with Tamiha women's group, who produce our beautiful bracelets. Thanks to her efforts, 150 women in Tanzania now have a sustainable source of income. Anna holds a masters in Business Administration from Boston College.

FATHER ALOYCE
Malaria Program Manager, Tanzania
Father Aloyce has worked with our 501c3 sponsor Hope Through Opportunity for over 15 years and is the head of our malaria program in Tanzania. As the Secretary of Health for the Moshi Diocese, he is responsible for the health and well being of the Kilimanjaro and Moshi region which caters to over 200-thousand people and he overseas the Diocese's 42 clinics and 14 health facilities. Father Aloyce is committed to ending malaria and was personally affected by malaria in 2011, when a deadly bout kept him in the hospital for three weeks.

COOPERS Ambassadors, Virginia Beach Sisters Jody & Cory Cooper are the MALAIKA team leaders for the Virginia Beach (VA) area, the hometown of founder Kristen Kenney. Since 2009, the Cooper sisters have been tasked with selling our "save a life" bracelets around the town, at Spring Branch Church, work and to friends and family. As Virginia Tech alum, the Coopers created our Hokie collection, which is now sold out!

FAYE KENNEY Ambassador, FloridaFaye Kenney was the first MALAIKA ambassador and team leader, as well as the aunt of founder Kristen Kenney. :) She has dedicated countless hours to raising awareness in her hometown St. Augustine, Fl. by selling MALAIKA bracelets at local stores and events. Not one day has passed that she hasn't worn our save a life, handmade accoutrements!

CELIA COX Angel on the Ground Celia Cox is our youngest Angel on the Ground, committed to raising awareness for the malaria & MALAIKA cause in her hometown of Leawood, KS. LPA PartnerLife Project For Africa aims to save lives and give hope to the poor in Africa, through services that promote HEALTH, provide EDUCATION, tackle POVERTY, provide HOMES (Shelter) to the homeless, and support ORPHANS and vulnerable children among the very poor communities. We are working together to end malaria with a special LPA bracelet where a portion of the proceeds will benefit malaria at LPA's health facility.

UM Sports PartnerThe University of Miami women's soccer team kicked off "Score a Goal, Save a Life" for the 2010-2011 season to end malaria. The girls raised over $1000 for the cause, and founder Kristen Kenney, a former Hurricane soccer player, is thrilled to have the support of her Alma Mater. Go Canes!
HPU Sports PartnerHigh Point Women's Soccer kicked off "Score a Goal, Save a Life" for the 2012 season led by founder Kristen Kenney's former soccer coach and mentor Marty Beall. With every goal scored, a donation awareness was brought to the High Point community and a generous donation was received.
