When I signed up to cover RedBull Global Rallycross, I had no idea what to expect. Racing was a new territory for me full of new people and new vernacular, but taking on this challenge has turned out to be one of the most rewarding experiences.

When I first met the SH Racing Rallycross team piloted by Nelson Piquet Jr  in Barbados (oh, the perks), I was immediately welcomed into the racing family. From day one, they not only respected my work as a reporter, but also my commitment to Africa and malaria. I will never forget my first conversation with James “Sulli” Sullivan, the owner of SH Racing. He pointed to my Malaika bracelets, and already knew the story.  He said, “we want to help.” A couple races later, they did just that.

Sulli placed a large order for bracelets to be worn by his entire team. I couldn’t help but smile as I packed up their order the other day, knowing how far this donation will go…not only for the children suffering from malaria in Africa, but also for raising awareness here in America.

SH Rallycross driver Nelson Piquet Jr is the current points leader in our series! It’s a joy to see Nelson improve each race this season. It’s even more humbling to see how he and his team pay it forward. Thank you SH Racing for joining us in the fight to end malaria and empowering women in Tanzania, one bracelet at a time. I look forward to celebrating the lives we save.
